My pup is a very robust pit mix from the shelter who is full of energy and attention seeking. By some small miracle, he's also not dog reactive, so I am hoping to put him in a doggy daycare once or twice a week to get him more socialized and give him another outlet for his energy. His only clinical issues are skin allergies and intermittent rashes/infections, plus he tested positive for lyme at some point (but has no symptoms of it; got all the bloodwork, etc, when first saw the positive lyme test).
He's up to date on all his vaccines (Bordetella, lepto, rabies, distemper), but never got the canine influenza vaccine. Influenza is recommended but not required by the daycare so I'm going to get him the first shot this weekend and the booster three weeks after that. Would you recommend holding off on trying daycare until after the shot(s) have time to take effect? Or am I overthinking this and overestimating potential risk? Relevant info below. Thanks!
