Renal failure management question
Post Body

My roughly 12 yo border collie mix is in renal failure. She felt poorly for a few days before diagnosis and her labs have worsened over just the few days since diagnosis. Somehow she's acting like herself again and is eating, drinking, happy, and waggy.

She's on a renal diet, makes sense. Not on any meds yet as her BP is normal. She's also getting SQ fluids at home.

My question is, what is the rationale behind SQ fluids when she's drinking well and her urine is close to normal in its specific gravity?
