Male neutered dog (boxer bull dog lab mix), 9 years old, 90lbs.
2 days ago I made a post in this sub asking about a crazy high Lipase and amylase test results in my senior dog. Didn’t get any responses but it’s ok because I was able to get him into an imaging place. We did another Lipase test (my vet just said it’s a stronger test just specifically for that) and while it was lower than the original urinalysis it was 1623 which is obviously still extremely high. Yesterday, he had an abdominal ultrasound and they found nothing in his pancreas and liver (no fat, no inflammation, no tumors, no cancer) but they did see some “slight inflammation in the renal pelvis (pelvic?)” part of both kidneys. According to the internist and my regular vet this could be the beginning of a kidney infection, but doesn’t explain the Lipase or Amylase test results.
I have an appointment on Saturday to do a chest X-ray (really just precautionary at this point but doing it because he will need to be sedated for the urine sample anyway) and have a sterile urine sample taken to test for the kidney infection.
So we’ve ruled out pancreatitis, cancer, tumors, fatty deposits, and he has 0 physical symptoms of anything being wrong. So what else could make these test results so out of whack? Not looking for a diagnosis but professional opinions on what my vets are calling “a real head scratcher”.
I will link my previous post in the comments.
