So the family dog is a miniature pinscher. We're had him since he was a puppy and he is 13 as of today actually. For as long as I can remember when he gets warm or sweaty he doesn't smell yeasty like our other dogs have, he smells metallicly, kind of like how your hand smells after you touch a bunch of coins.
I've always wondered why he smells metallicly but I've never really been able to find any leads on what may cause it.
The smell has persisted through diet changes, as he's gotten older, etc.
He has chronic health issues but the smell predates them being diagnosed. He has a history of stomach ulcers, kidney stones, and last year was diagnosed with a heart murmur.
I'm not really looking to find a way to fix the smell because I honestly find it weirdly pleasant. It's more just a burning curisoity to know why he smells this way because I can't think of another dog I've met that smells this way.
The vet has never really turned anything up, my Google fu hasn't really turned anything up.
So I'm hoping some good leads on info can pop up here.
