Dog looks like he has pink eye. I definitely plan on taking him in. But can I make an appointment and avoid a trip to the ER/ associated costs?

I used to work maintenance and often found myself in dusty ceilings so I had a lot of pink eye. It was slightly annoying and tolerable so Is it alright to wait for an appointment? I just noticed it tonight and Iād call to schedule in the AM
