Hello, AskVet
My sister adopted a beautiful tiger-stripe grey tabby, also known as a Standard Issue Cat. She's only been here a few weeks, and was well taken care of, well loved, well fed, and overall in good shape if a wee bit skinny, but it was a baby, maybe only a few months old. Tonight, my sister came home from work, to find her passed away, with blood covering the side of her face and muzzle. From the few times I had interacted with the Baby, she was happy, bright eyed, if a wee bit skiddish. She would play just like any kitten plays, especially with the other two (at the time), slightly older kitties. Those two were about 2 years, and 8 weeks, respectively. When my sister went to bed last night, The rainbow bridge baby was cuddling with the oldest of the three. I know this is pretty vague of an ask, but unfortunately, we didn't have much documentation of where The Baby came from, and the person my sister got her from, said The Baby was otherwise healthy. Just last night I was petting The Baby myself, and nothing seemed or felt out of the ordinary. My sister thinks the baby was suffocated, by the oldest cat, but I'm not sure that's the right idea, due to the blood on her face and muzzle. She can't have gotten hit by a car, and I thought maybe she burst a vessel or something and maybe bled out. Her eyes seemed to be fine, if that's a useful detail. I can't stand the sight of dead animals, so I didn't do a real thorough examination. She seemed to have been laying down when she passed. I would really appreciate any insight that can be given, if only to give my sister some closure. I thank you for your help and insight from the bottom of my heart.
