It's a bit depressing knowing that there aren't many episodes left to go, but I personally felt so overwhelmed and astonished by the quality and depth of knowledge in the first Blue Planet series that I've come to terms with this series being shorter. They don't have infinite budgets and, imo, what we saw was groundbreaking knowledge (and footage) that I wouldn't expect to be usurped much in my lifetime. I'm very thankful for what they have given us (15 years between series).
What the new series does have over the old one is quality of footage. The first series is my comfort blanket but I can't help but notice that the camera work/lack of HD has aged it very quickly.
Please tell me about your favourite Beeb docs both old and new, wonderful, shocking or whatever other emotion they gave you, and a quick line or two about what/why would be great too. Give me something to look forward to looking up as well as having a general BBC love-in.
