I can only go on my own experiences, which have been that in London, after the pub nail bombings and the 2007 bus and tube attacks, people carried on as normal, went to work, and during the former, went drinking in pubs that could be targeted when they usually would not in a 'fuck you, you won't defeat us' manner. Before then, London was also hit by the IRA, so I guess we have thick skin because... because we have to?

What's the rest of the country like when threats seem imminent? Or the press scaremonger people into thinking that is the case, if that's your belief.
