How much gift money is allowed when purchasing a house?
Post Body

Hi all

Will be purchasing my first home for around £110k (small house, very cheap area) with 100% cash. I've saved up 45k and the remaining will be covered by some very generous close family members from my side and my partner's side in the form of a gift, totalling 55k.

My question is - is there any limit on how much "gift" money can be received? Any such restriction either on the amount or the time over which it is transferred?

These gifts would be in the form of direct bank transfers and a cheque

Not looking to take out a mortgage

Also I heard money laundering checks are quite brutal these days so wanting to avoid any unnecessary stress/lengthy investigations going forward, as we both work very stressful jobs!!

Any advice pertaining to this would be massively appreciated. Buying our first home, a bit clueless on how things work. Really ANY advice would be appreciated. Please help.

Thank you!!
