Dell Latitude laptop refuses to charge after the screen goes dark (sleep mode?) despite plugging in the charger and leaving the lid open. So many times when my battery was low, I'd plug in the charger walk away for a couple of hours, and find my laptop as flat as when I left it. It only charges while I'm using it. I don't want to set my laptop to not automatically go to sleep because I like that it locks itself so others can't use it when I walk away.

I tried googling solutions and found nothing that works. The rest is jargon. Talk to me like I'm 5 (or 500 hundred) because I have no clue how to fix this!
