I am currently in my jr year of college and I was reflecting about high school, specifically a crush I had on my teacher. I have always felt embarrassed by past me’s crush on this teacher, but Im realizing that some of their behavior might have been inappropriate.

I had a major crush on this teacher, to the point that it is embarrassing to think about. I would think about her all the time, and was totally head over heels about her in a stereotypical teenage boy fashion. So much so that still today women who are “my type” have her features, ie. long dark hair, smart, more mature.

Looking back on it some of the behavior I did was inappropriate. I would openly flirt with her when we were alone (I often ate lunch and talked in study hall with her), doing things like complementing how their hair looked today, if they had a nice outfit, how I thought they were so funny, etc.

She was always really receptive to it, never shutting me down and always seeming appreciative of my compliments. They sometimes said and did things I perceived as flirting. She showed me a selfie of her in new sunglasses and asked “don’t they look good on me?”. Another time we were talking about our shared love of sweaters, I suggested that we should both wear our sweaters tomorrow so we could be matching; sure enough the next day she wore her sweater. We even seriously talked about me teaching her how to play tennis. She asked “dont you think short girls in dresses look so pretty?” (She was my height so that question always confused me)

As someone who is now almost an adult im realizing that some of her behavior kind of egged me on. Im starting to wonder was her actions an inappropriate thing for a teacher to do?
