For context I'm a Para educator. I work with special ed kids most of the time, however recently my school gave me a new assignment. My new kid is a smart kid, but he refuses to participate in class(whenever called upon he gets up and leaves) he does this really often. I guess you can call him the problem kid of the class. He doesn't run off campus but he just gets up and does whatever he wants. I've noticed the school doesn't really bother to try with him anymore. He doesn't get in trouble for any of his "quirks" because he's figured out to use the race card and teachers don't bother to challenge him. What I've been doing is just reinforcing positive behaviors and not giving him attention when he has his bad behaviors. Any and all advicd would be greatly appreciated.
