Which institutions or academics have most thoroughly researched the democratic effects of different electoral systems? including things like districting, the voting age, proportional representation, election frequency, etc.
Post Body

Hello

Are there any notable institutions or academics that have thoroughly researched and assessed modern electoral systems and for sake of a better term democratic responsiveness. I'm interested in the effects of districting (how certain districts were established, and research into districting by accessibility to make for ease of voting), effects of proportional representation vs first past the post, research into what the optimal voting age would be, effects of the citizenship process on electorates (effect of immigrants, and whether easier paths to citizenship lead to more democratic involvement), along with research into optimal election frequency.
