What to do/ see as someone moving here next spring?

I'm moving to the area in the spring, but am visiting in November to recheck out the city and to get the vibe from a few areas. What are some things to do or see during the quick trip? I have already done some of the more touristsy things in the past, so I'm looking for more non-obvious things? My friends that live there are already planning to give me a whole rundown on the public transit system. But what else should I look at?
