I was developing a story for a Star Wars OC of mine, and a major plot point of his story is that he struggles to resist the pull of the dark side of the Force, which, after a long mental battle, eventually ends with him just going "Y'know what? Fuck the sides", and coming to the realization that if he can't shake the temptation of the darkness then he might as well just use it in tandem with the light.
Could this actually work in Canon? I know there are characters like Bendu, who is described as "The One in the Middle", but the whole concept of Grey Jedi seems to be pretty iffy in the Star Wars community.
No. Never worked. Never will.
Even various grey orders focused not on using the dark side but on allowing themselves to be more passionate than Jedi.
Big, astronomical difference there.
Back to the drawing board. 🫵🏻

Because your idea of fun is making things stronger and more rules breaking. It's a very common feature of people that just start on their writing journey. 🙏
I recommend you read some John Carter and Valerian and Lauraline. Both inspired Star Wars a fair bit. You'll likely learn a lot.
