[Final Fantasy VII] How exactly would Cloud being a teenage soldier/security guard and being experimented for five years in a vegetative state affect his maturity?

According to recent interviews by Square Enix developers this results Cloud technically has the mentality of a teenager in spite of being physically 21 years of age because he lost over five years of life experience when he was experimented by Hojo and carried by Zack when he was a vegetative state/coma. Thus he became very socially awkward not understanding how to socialize with people around his age. I know he also had short-term amnesia that was developed from his trauma which made him think he managed to join SOLDIER when he didn't but I want to ask mainly about how him being a vegetative state/coma would actually affect his mental development into an adult.
