We used a bunch of telescopes to emulate a telescope the size of earth, why not do it on space.

So, from my understanding, we can get to resolutions similar to that of a earth sized dish telescope interpolating images from multiple telescopes on earth, that's is how we imaged that black hole. Why not use multiple telescopes orbiting the sun, to achieve a resolution even greater?
