Hi all,
I just want to get your opinions on the nomenclature of a few things. I understand that nucleotides make up the polymers that are nucleic acids, just like amino acids make up proteins.
However, do you use the term "nucleic acid sequence" or "nucleotide sequence"? On one hand, it makes sense to use the former since "DNA sequence" derives from there, but you also get things like "International Nucleotide Sequence Database Collaboration" and you'd assume those guys know what they're talking about.
Likewise, a certain reviewer 2 told me that "amino acid sequence" is a slang, and I should use either "protein sequence" or "sequence of amino acids"... I'm tempted to use "peptide sequence" just to spite the reviewer.
