Camping in/around San Francisco?

Hi!
My boyfriend and I are planning a road trip up California in June. We would like go stop in SF/The Bay Area. As of now we are planning on camping. We hope to sleep in the car but we are open to sleeping in a tent as well. Does anyone have any recommendations for camp grounds that either allow you to park your car at the actual camp site, or at least have parking near by?
