Have scams evolved in the rental market?
Post Body

I have had couple of instances where the Craigslist looked like a genuine post. The initial conversation about the house was reasonable. The rent was also not too low but around what other listing in the area had. When I mention I want to visit the place before making any decision, they seem to start applying subtle pressure touting high demand. They are not saying no to in person visit but saying it can only happen two weeks later since the unit is occupied. Another similarity is that they offer discounts for paying x months rent upfront.

I am 90% confident that these are scams. I used Craigslist three years ago to search and wanted to know if my hunch on these being scams is right.
