Hooking up with an old fling, good or bad thing?

I (33 M) recently hooked up with my ex girlfriend who was my first serious girlfriend when I was 20-22, we still have chemistry but we have grown to become very polarized on a lot of things. I enjoy her company and she enjoys mine, however I cannot deny the sex was way more emotional and sensual than the usual hook up. My question is, if two adults consent to casual sex but you leave wanting more without her wanting the same, is that me overthinking things or her being disconnected?
