The questions "What is your type?" or "What kind of men do you usually go for?" have been asked a lot. And when the said questions are answered, the words 'masculine' or 'masculinity' are used quite often.
I would like to know what the word "masculine" means for you, if you have ever used it to describe your type of guy
Edit:
A person in comments brought up a really good point. And this was my reply to their comment. I thank the person for bringing this to my attention. I think this addition makes this post a bit better. Below was my reply to the said comment
You're absolutely right, I could've made this post better by providing examples. I can share a very recent instance.
Someone said on this subreddit a while back. Verbatim:
"Assertive masculine men who can be equally rough and tender with me"
This is not the only instance of the word usage though. I have come across the use of this word in real life when I am talking to my friends of all genders who are into guys. And I have come across the usage of the word online as well. Though, I submit that I cannot produce any other verbatim examples other than the one I mentioned above.
The usage is common enough that it came to my notice. And it often confuses me, hence the question :)
It’s funny, I don’t think of masculine as a good term. I’m a Western woman, feminist, switch if that provides context. I don’t want a dominant man, at least most of the time. To me masculinity is frequently toxic, or used as a way to subjugate women.
