Why is it that posts here with hundreds of comments often have only a couple of upvotes, if that?

Just something I've noticed about this sub. For me it's automatic to click upvote on any post I enjoy or find interesting, especially if it's engaging enough to prompt me to write a comment. Popular posts in other subs get hundreds if not thousands of upvotes. But here I've seen posts with 200 comments have 1 upvote. Anyone know what's up with that?
