I (m28) was at a bar with some friends recently and this guy came up to me when I went up to order another drink. It took me a second but I realized it was the guy who made my life a living hell from the 5th grade onward. He asked me how I'd been doing and tried making small talk with me as I was waiting for my drink. Turns out he's now a cop and I can't say I'm surprised by that at all given how much of a dick he was. My drink comes and he offers to pay for it and tried telling me how sorry he was for all the things he did. For a bit of context it wasn't just calling me names I was assaulted by him more times than I could count and my knee still hurts to this day from when he shoved me down a flight of stairs and nothing I brought with me to school was safe from this guy as he'd break or steal whatever I had. I didn't say much during his awkward attempt at small talk and or when he tried to apologize and when he'd finished I said "I can't say I'm surprised you became a cop you're just the type and shove your apology up your pig ass". I saw him ball his fist up and I fully expected him to swing on me but he didn't say another word and just walked away.
