I have a friend who is originally from Mexico but has lived in the U.S. for a good 15 years or so, and got citizenship here after marrying her American husband. Her brothers came here sometime after her, and one day I asked out of curiosity what compelled them to move here as well (she originally came here to be a nanny, then met her husband). Apparently one of her brothers was captured by a cartel late one night while driving a delivery truck because they thought he was a member of a rival gang. And long story short, he's lucky they realized their mistake when they did. He took that all as a sign to get out of dodge and boom, he lives as a permanent resident here now.
