Are there significant differences between religion and philosophy?
Post Body
I don't mean semantically what the difference is.
I mean that philosophy tends to be a way for people to analyse the world around them and guide decisions about their lives. Isn't this what religion is as well?
People can be mocked for basing their ethics on a flying spaghetti monster, but is that really different than basing your ethics on the tenants of a philosophy? (Don't you have to start with some axiom(s)?)
Is there a difference between a christian and a libertarian? An objectivist and an Jew?
