FINAL EDIT: I have obtained a copy of the obituary from the Newark Library. Thanks to everyone for all of your hard work, without you this wouldn't have been possible. You guys are the best.

When I was 9 years old my mother had an aneurysm and died suddenly. My brothers and I were forced to move out of state with my dad and his new wife - we pretty much lost everything. I have one picture of her and that's it. I use to have a copy of her obituary but I lost it long ago. I've tried searching every obituary listing I can find and I'd really like to have even a text-based copy. Is there any tips you could give me to help me on this quest?

EDIT: I've tried calling the Licking County Library twice, and have gotten no answer. I've left a message and sent an email to their reference department. I've also tried contacting her former employer from the number we found in hopes of obtaining more pictures/information. Sadly, their number has been disconnected. I'm at a loss of what to do next, which means I'll probably have to patiently play the waiting game. Thanks again for everything, guys.

We've found a possible sister to my mother. I have contacted her through Facebook; hopefully this is her.

Edit: We've located her birthplace and former address! Name: Rekee Humble Birth Date: 17 Aug 1961 Address: 1165 Yakima St SE, Ephrata, WA, 98823-2224. Now I have a general area in WA to begin searching for more family.

Update: (Monday, August 22, 2011): So, I am at work in my library for the next three hours. I have an hour break between my two shifts today and during that time I'm going to speak with my Interlibrary Loan department and see what we can do. After that I'm going to contact the Newark Library, followed by the Advocate. I will keep everyone informed on what I learn. Also, we're making slight progress on tracking down her family history/tree, which will in turn open up some new doors for me to contact lost family members to learn more about her.

Edit: It was November of 1997 in Newark, OH. I've searched the newspaper and no luck there. I have access to several databases through my college, would these be helpful? If so, which one would you recommend? I really appreciate this, guys.

Edit x6: OK guys, final edit for tonight... I just want to say I am seriously overwhelmed by the response to this thread, so many people willing to help me out on what would seem like a trivial/meaningless quest. I know it's just a brief article in an obscure paper, but to me it's one of the only things left of her. This is the most grateful I've ever felt towards anonymous web posters.

We've located her death information, everything from the time of death, date, hospital, etc. The actual obit is still MIA. I'm going to follow several helpful leads in the morning after my classes. Here's some additional information that may be helpful:

Rekee Lynn Edwards of Newark, OH, died Nov. 6, 1997 at 2 PM. She was in the hospital for a couple of days before her death. She had worked for many years for a company called Benefit Systems which at the time had a Newark office, not sure if it still exists. Her co-workers and friends paid for the obituary. She had three children. Her last known address was Wehrle Ave, Newark OH.
