[Serious]Christians of Reddit, how to you square a very pacifistic Jesus with your personal need to be violent?

I know this won't apply to all Christians but there seem to be a lot of Christians that are both very heavily invested in Jesus and in violence. Killing abortion doctors, beating up people who disagree, making war with foreign countries, actually volunteering to be in the Army and generally hating gays/Muslims/liberals. I really don't get it at all. I'm an atheist these days but I went to a Catholic High school and grade school with lots of Sunday school and the one part I remember is Jesus being 100% not ok with even the smallest form of violence. So I would honestly like to know how you make your need/want to be violent with your want to also follow the teachings of Jesus.
