If you lived under an oppressive government, what's the best thing you now enjoy that you didn't before? Did any technology take some getting used to? What was the biggest thing your government lied to you about that surprised you the most?
Story: My mom used to work with this woman who came to the U.S. from the Soviet Union. I think this was before it fell. She went to the grocery store and was amazed at all the food that was there and was a bit overwhelmed. She couldn't read English yet, but she saw this bucket with a picture of fried chicken on the side. She thought that fried chicken would be a great American meal to celebrate her new home. So she buys it, brings it home, and is extremely disappointed because instead of fried chicken, she finds out that she bought Crisco.
