How they phrase their preferred pronouns.
I often hear, "I use they/them pronouns," when they mean to say, "I prefer you use they/them pronouns when referring to me." If you want other people to change for you, be honest about it.
Besides, "I" is a pronoun, too. And they clearly just used it.
