While I grew up in the south, I primarily grew up in the suburbs in predominately white environments. I don't talk with the "traditional" black slang and actually talk rather proper. This, coupled with being a mixed kid (though, since I'm 3/4s black, it's just easier to say I'm black) has led me to have some uncomfortably racist situations with older white people and children raised by racially insensitive parents.

While I've nothing against white people (other than the usual stuff that I'm genetically predisposed to dislike about white people), I must say that they've frequently pulled me over to tell me about how awful the rest of my race is, but always try to mend the situation by saying "But not you though. You're different". According to them, that makes up for throwing my race under a bus. While being an unconventional black man somehow allows me to infiltrate the white community like Wayne Brady, I still find myself wondering why white people feel the need to complain about black people...to other black people, at all.

Does this happen to other black guys who aren't Gangbangers and Wife-beaters (Chris Brown) too? This surely can't be something that only happens down where I live.
