Artists of reddit, why is drawing thought of as a "basic" form of art, when painting is held in such high regard?
Post Body

I'm an art student at a fine arts college, and to me it seems that a lot of the instructors and other students view drawing (pencil, pen, charcoal, etc) as a "lesser" form of art, when compared to things like sculpture and painting. Why? Drawing to me is my favorite form of art and I think that it's just as challenging and expressive as other media.
