Reddit, I have reactive arthritis. I have been fighting it for a little over an year now. If you have also been diagnosed with this disease, could you tell me how you eventually drove it into remission?
Post Body

I'll briefly explain how it started - a year ago I got an infection and had diarrhea. I started having kidney pains and went to see a nephrologist. Spent two weeks in a hospital until they were able to diagnose me.

Fast forward an year and now I'm a lot better, but not cured. During the summer I didn't have any pains in my knees and was able to run and swim. My CRP (C-reactive protein) was in the normal 0-5 interval. However, once autumn came things changed.

My left knee swelled and I started having a high temperature (around 37.3). My doctor told me to get a CRP (C-reactive protein) test and the result was ~59 (it should be in the 0-5 range). He told me to continue the treatment and go see him in two weeks. I'm going to meet with him tomorrow.

As you can see even though I was able to get into a healthy condition the arthritis returned. I have a feeling that every time I start getting better it's only for a short time.

My current medications are as follows - Corticosteroids (20mg) every other day. Methotrexate (15mg) - every Saturday. Also, the days I'm not taking corticosteroids I'm taking Diclofenac (a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug).

I also want to point out that I tested positive for HLA B27.

So, fellow redditors, could you give me advice on how to fight this disease? I'd like to hear from people with the same problem and see what treatments they underwent.
