I was recently put on 25mg quetiapine for sleep and mood disorder. I’m also on 150 mg bupropion. 5’10” 255 lb

I’m seeing that quetiapine is linked to metabolic syndrome and diabetes. I’m also seeing that increased appetite is a common side effect of this drug.

I’m concerned because I am prediabetic - I am obese but have lost 30 lbs and dropped my a1c from 6.1 to 5.7 in the last three months by changing my diet and exercising. I don’t want to backtrack on this progress.

My question is - is there an increased risk of diabetes BECAUSE it makes people over eat? If I stick to my diet will this circumvent the risk? Or is the risk caused by something else?
