Left rehab 1 month into my IC, what now?
Post Body

So I was put on an IC (involuntary commitment) as soon as I turned 18, through court and was ordered to do 270 days in treatment by the judge. I left rehab 30 days into the IC since it wasn’t a locked facility and they couldn’t technically force me to stay.

The staff at the rehab told me they had to contact the authorities since I was leaving under an IC and that I would be tracked down by the IC people and either sent back to a rehab, and the 270 days started all over again, or spend the 270 days in jail.

So far, nothing has happened. No one has contacted me to my knowledge, I’ve not been questioned by anyone, and no authority has tried to do anything to me.

I have court coming up in January for a minor drug offense that happened when I was 17, and last time I had court, the judge knew I was on an IC and that I was in rehab, but didn’t seem to know that I had 270 days there, as he asked me when I got out, and I pretended not to really know, but told him I only had 30 days in there.

So my question is: During my next court date, is the judge going to try to send me back to rehab or to jail? What has become of the IC that I failed to comply with? Is it just a matter of time before I’m tracked down and sent back to rehab or to jail like the staff said? What should I be expecting? Will it just eventually expire and I won’t have to ever complete it?

Any input helps. Thanks
