I (33 F) recently started seeing a psychiatrist and she diagnosed me with ADHD. (I had long suspected which is why I went to see her). She initially prescribed me Atomoxetine. The reason is because I have anxiety and I can’t drink coffee without getting the jitters. She also beleive that the anxiety is tied to the adhd. She said she preferred to not give me a stimulant which I’m fine with because I’ve heard so many negative things about these medications. Well all the Atomoxetine did for me was make me feel weird and angry and killed the urge to bite and pick at my nails (yay?). After a month she prescribed me Wellbutrin which I took for 2 days and came off of because I couldn’t be bothered with all the horrible side effects. Lastly she prescribed me Methylsomething something but my insurance needed authorisation and I’m not sure if she ever sent it and I never heard back from the insurance or her. Honestly I never reached out back to her either because I’m not sure if I’m interested in being medicated indefinitely especially since I’ve gotten this far in life without it. I’m not 100 % sure what my questions is. I guess, is my case normal? Is taking medication worth it?
