Hard time - benzo withdrawal
Post Body

Hello, I am in need of some advice regarding medical treatment here in the U.S. Since I moved here 9 months ago, the professionals here have forced me to stop taking one of my anxiety medications (benzo). The issue is that in my home country, my doctor never wanted to discontinue the medication due to the various diagnoses I had. With the abrupt discontinuation, I started to feel unwell and have already seen more than three professionals. None of them have managed to address my anxiety, and I continue to suffer even while taking more medications than before. I believe my case might be an exception, but Iโ€™ve been struggling with the discontinuation of the medication and getting prescriptions. I plan to translate my medical records and history into English to try to find treatment that better suits my needs. I have stopped and restarted benzodiazepines more than twice and have never had issues when doing a longer and more focused taper. But currently, itโ€™s very difficult.

Are there situations where one should consider taking these medications for a longer or continuous period?

Thank you in advance.
