My Mom is a 66 year old, living in a nursing home with COPD. She has PTSD from severe childhood abuse and domestic violence, she also has anxiety and depression. Her disease was progressing rapidly last year so she signed on to hospice services. The morphine and Ativan really help her breathing. After a couple months on hospice she began hearing voices. She was then transferred to another nursing home and this nursing home cut her off most of her medications cold Turkey. She went into severe withdrawals, the voices got worse and she began self harming. We had to do two ER visits where she had to be restrained and almost died. After a week in the hospital she then went into a hospice facility and they slowly got her better. After the 3 months she was there, I had my Mom back. In January she moved into a new nursing home and has been doing great until this week. She is hearing voices again, withdrawing from her normal activities and we’re really scared. I met with the Case Manager today and the administrator. They are going to try their best to get her help. I don’t understand why this is happening to her again. I’m just looking for any ideas about why this is happening and how I can help her.
