Ativan Protocol for Catatonia
Post Body
Hello all. Psychiatric nurse here working at an acute inpatient psychiatric hospital.
Could someone tell me more about the legalities behind the forced Ativan protocol for the treatment of Catatonia? If a pt with suspected catatonia refuses Ativan PO, then Ativan IM is given per forced order, thus considered a โForcedโ medication without having to go to court. I am struggling find more info about this, it may vary from state to state.
Thanks in advance.
