For patients diagnosed Schizoaffective with bipolar.
Have a good friend being treated for SZD, he's wary of adding anything to his chart at 43yrs old, was suggested he could try Li to help manage SZD psychosis associated with bipolar mood shifts.
I've not seen any terrible reactions in my work as a peer support worker. But I promised to reach out and ask.
AFAIK it wouldn't affect the schizophrenic symptoms as much as reduce incidence of manic episodes and therefore psychosis. Is this right? Would reduced manic episodes help reduce psychosis incidents?
In your opinion, have you seen any particular downsides in patients treated with both? Any lessening of episodes?
I really appreciate any help or resources, I'm more well versed with ASD and PTSD treatments.
