What is it called when whenever presented with very negative emotional stimuli, the urge to cry turns into laughter? Is there a term or idea behind that? What is the science behind it
For example, whenever you watch a really sad scene in a show or hear a heart wrenching song, there’s always that lump in your throat or bit of sinus pressure before you begin crying. But whenever that response is activated in me, when in cases of being presented a very sad or tragic scenario, instead of crying it comes out as laughter. It’s not an active thought process and it’s never uncontrollable in neutral settings
