Would there be an advantage to programmatically constructing a high-level AST of a SQL command and passing that to the database, rather than constructing actual strings of SQL?
Post Body
I understand that the database is extensively optimized for finding search strategies and that queries should be couched in high-level language. But isn't fiddling with escaped strings somewhat unsafe? Why do we have to pass literal SQL? What are the downsides to passing, eg, a standardized binary representation of SQL queries? (Besides the quandaries of standardization.)
