Standalone Git clients vs. bolt-ons and extensions in IDEs. Any strong reasons to use one over the other?

Post Body

Hi folks!
I'm looking into developing an Android app (maybe) and an extension for Home Assistant (most probably). Both solo projects for fun and personal usage.
I was checking out Git clients for my OS recently (Ubuntu Linux).
I found one standalone Git client that I like a lot (Gitkraken). But ... MS Visual Studio Code is also pretty awesome and has Git / version control integrated ... and you can add extensions to bring in more features.
Given that these both seem like pretty good options, I'm wondering whether there are any significant reasons to go with standlone Git clients versus using them through IDEs?
I'd like to commit to either approach for the foreseeable future and am just wondering whether there's any major reason to use a standalone client that I'm not thinking about. Because otherwise it makes intuitive sense to me to rationalise tools and just use IDE extensions.
