I have been taking a major-required math class this quarter, as someone who has had a long, difficult history with math. Before starting the class, I had a handful of mini stress meltdowns over the idea of taking a math class again. To my surprise, the professor is the first math instructor who’s ever gotten through to me and helped me understand content. It’s been an empowering experience for me to be able to do math confidently, and I just want to thank her for making such a big impact on the faith I have in my abilities!
I feel a little odd about it because I don’t really know if it’s a common thing to do, and I also have opted to take the class virtually because the professor still allows it, so she’s only ever seen me on exam days where I have to go in person. I just thought I’d ask for thoughts on if it’d be appropriate/appreciated given the context! Any input is appreciated :-)
