Chances in getting into a PhD program (Educational policy) with little experience in analytical software (R/Python/SAS)
*I‘m interested in a doctoral program that focuses on quantitative data (H.S. graduation rates, generation status) but I don’t have the necessary background in data analytic software; how would that affect my changes of getting in a PhD program?
Educational Experience:
Undergrad was in Sociology from U.T. Austin (I did a senior thesis and used SPSS).
Masters in Education in Second Language Acquisition from Texas A&M (I wrote a thesis on World Englishes->mostly theoretical).
I want to apply to a PhD. program (specifically Stanford because I live in the area with a husband and child). I’m interested in a specific program (PhD in Education Policy). In the application they ask what’s your experience with specific software/how many years (R/Python).
I have very little experience. What do you think my chances are?
