So it has been shown (more info below) that spiders can essentially travel on electrical fields by creating silk "balloons".
Now if I am reading right, these "balloon threads" are not actually interconnecting but are individual threads that negatively charged and actually repel each other while also repelling the electrical current of the earth which allows flight to be obtained by the spiders.
So I got to thinking, if we could duplicate this by creating a Graphene "thread" of our own at 0.142nm in size, lay these threads one direction and then another direction on top of each other and supply them with power, could we potentially create our own "balloon" that when viewed at a microscopic level would look like lines of non-connecting fibers, but at the macroscopic level could look like a near solid sheet?
What would be the implications of having something where each individual thread is not actually interconnected since they would repel each other and the earths electric field, but you could theoretically sit on it?
