Cheaper alternative to a Variac
Post Body

Hi, I'm trying to build a DC sputtering magnetron for a college group project and we're using a microwave oven transformer (I know they're dangerous AF and I intend to take all the security measures needed to work safely) to power the sputtering head. All videos and tutorials online use a Variac before the 220V AC input of the transformer, the problem is I don't have a Variac or the possibility of getting one, is there any alternative to regulate the AC voltage for cheap? The power output it would have to support is about 3KW and it wouldn't be working more than 15 minutes runs. Thank you in advance!
