Post Body

Hi everyone, in almost 3 years of using reddit this is my first post ever! I’ve had a Nikon D3400 that I’ve learned on for the last 7ish years and I’ve finally decided it’s time to upgrade. I think my skills are at least halfway decent, I’ve entered a few local competitions and done well so i think my skills are good enough to upgrade.

I’ve tested out a bunch of cameras at the store, and for what I’m looking to use it for, the Nikon D850 is what I really want. I’m budget conscious so I want to get the best value for what I buy, and going new isn’t realistic for me.

I’ve been browsing OfferUp and Facebook marketplace and found a brand new in box D850 for $2100. I talked her down to $1850, is this worth it? I’m guessing I’d never find a price that low for a brand new one, but if I get it from someone random there’s more risk in terms of no warranty and such.

Sorry if this question isn’t allowed or something, I’m not trying to get flamed lol.

Thanks for your help and feel free to make better suggestions
