I'm a fairly solid amateur, without the ambition to become a pro. However, my girlfriend was recently playing at an open mic, and I took pictures of her and the other performers, and sent them around, and they got a pretty good response.
Some of them are interested in getting some shots of their other gigs, and I think it would be a lot of fun, and also good practice. I'm proficient with my camera, have some decent lenses and know my way around lightroom, but I'm wondering how much it's reasonable to charge for decent-but-not-professional quality photos. These are by and large not professional musicians, and wouldn't be getting any photography done at pro rates, but I thought I could help them out and get to see more live music in the bargin.
My initial impulse is to do the shooting itself for "free" (asking them to pay the cover and buy me a beer), but then charge a flat rate for editing (maybe like $2/photo). Does that sound obscenely low (or obscenely high)?
