Well, this has come out from nowhere. Wow.
So, a few years ago I went to a small festival held on my city with the camera for learning and fun sake. My original intent was to see if I could get some concert portfolio here and there and maybe collaborate with some publication, but I went on an individual, totally amateur basis. Took a lot of shots, worked a lot, published a few on my social media stuff and move on other stuff.
So, now I've received an email from one of the bands that played on that festival asking me permission to use on of my shots on their next LP.
Now, they main reason I went to that festival was because this particular band played. Saying that I'm fucking thrilled about the prospect of seeing one of my shots on their upcoming LP is a total understatement of this situation. I mean, I went to watch them live! And now they want my shots! I mean, come on!
Hype aside, what I'm wondering, is what (and if) should I ask for something in return, and what would be too much. As I said, I'm just a hobbyist, when I went to that festival I wasn't planning to make a living out of this, and this year, after COVID and life itself, photography is on the backseat of my priorities list.
My guess is that my name on the thanks and a copy of the album would be a fair request (I would have bought it anyway, so..), as the band is small and I'm just fucking around with the camera when I got time and I feel like it, but I don't really know what's the protocol and the expected behavior on these kind of requests, so any pointer would be helpful.
